Growing up near the water on Long Island, the ocean and boats have always been an integral part of my life.  I grew up racing sail boats and surfing, and after high school decided to attend SUNY Maritime in order to continue to live a life on the water.  After graduating from SUNY Marine with a B.S. in Marine Transportation I knew that joining MM&P was the best, and really the only, option in order to achieve the career I wanted to have.  I joined the union 13 years ago, and since then have sailed in all licensed deck positions with nearly all MM&P contracted offshore companies, both off the board and as a permanent employee.  I have worked on container ships, Ro-Ros, Con-Ros, and research vessels ranging in size from 235 feet and 3,800 gross tonnage to 958 feet and 75,000 gross tonnage.  My increasing level of responsibility and leadership at sea has prepared me to take on the role of Vice President, as a Captain is only as good as his communication to his team and his ability to motivate them to get the job done right.  The leadership and interpersonal skills I have honed out at sea, are integral to the VP role.  I am currently sailing as Captain aboard the M/V Cape Hudson, a grey-hull operated by Matson Navigation and currently supporting operations on the Pacific Theatre.  I live on Long Island with my wife, Jill, and my dog, Whaler.
