MY VISION FOR MM&P EAST COAST

Accountability - An obligation to explain, justify, and take responsibility for one’s actions.
I believe any actions or decisions made that affect the membership should have the input of the membership. I believe the membership should have a voice representing them that is in no way beholden to anyone except the members that voice serves. My promise to the membership is that as your VP, your voice and my voice will be one, your fight will be my fight.
Transparency - is operating in such a way that it is easy for others to see what actions are performed.
I believe information is power, and the more the membership is informed the better the outcome for MM&P as a whole. I believe it is the responsibility of the elected union officials to work tirelessly to keep the membership informed of any and all happenings or issues, what are the options for resolution, and what actions are being taken. My promise to the membership is that as your VP, I will listen and communicate no matter what.
Solidarity - union or fellowship arising from common responsibilities and interests.
I believe our common goals and interests should be what drives the decision making at MM&P. We all want to secure the future of our union and of the American shipping industry; creating more jobs with better benefits and higher pay. I believe solidarity is strengthened through member involvement and empowerment. My promise to the membership is that as your VP, I will work tirelessly to drive decisions that benefit us all.

Strive to strengthen the relationship between all divisions of MM&P
Protect the interests of the retirees and the pension

Negotiate with shipping companies/on contracts with the needs of the membership at the forefront

Streamline the pre-employment physical process and only requiring one physical a year

Issuing drug free certificates to rotary shipping members that have been on a vessel and involved in a random testing program as allowed by the CFR’s. This will cut costs and reduce the burden put on members trying to ship
